Grupo XIX and Roberto Alencar: drifting memories – Scenic practices from the perspective of the critical theory on creative processes
Abstract
The article highlights aspects of the creation processes conducted by the body artist Roberto Alencar's, concerning the play Zoopraxiscópio (2014), as well as those from Grupo XIX de Teatro in the assembly of the play Intervenção Dalloway: Rio dos Malefícios do Diabo (2017). Alencar provides vast material on interactions and transits by resorting to diverse scenic resources and procedures in various artistic languages. Grupo XIX, on its turn, highlights important aspects of group production by contemplating the participation of people from outside the company while discussing the socio-political dimension of public spaces. Both are observed from the point of view provided by documents and archives that were generated by the artists and by the researchers who followed their respective creative paths. For this, the article utilizes the critical theory on creation processes proposed by Cecilia Almeida Salles and its theoretical basis supported by the artistic practices. Salles considers complexity in a proposition that starts from the objects of study to elucidate general aspects on creation and also taking into account the specificities of each process – an interdisciplinary effort that brings together collaborations from theorists such as Charles Peirce, Edgard Morin, Vincent Colapietro and Pierre Musso. In the article, the productions of Alencar and Grupo XIX are the starting point to a discussion about the studies on creative processes in affinity with scenic production.
