Media Education in schools: references and resources for teachers
Abstract
Considering media as a dominant knowledge support, and the main linking structure between societies, it becomes urgent to guide students towards the enlightened consumption of mediated and digitized information. In portuguese school context, Media Education is part of the strategy outlined for the Citizenship and Development discipline. However, this will only be a successful strategy if schools prioritize this module and teachers have the necessary conditions, such as training and guides for practical work. There are several international guidelines and Portuguese investigations in this field, which offer consistent information and materials so that teachers can safely approach such an emerging topic as the media. This article proposes to gather some of the grounding references for teachers training, evaluation resources and resources for activities, as a way to participate in the field between research agents and educational agents.
