Emergent Subversion in Artistic Practice: in/visibilities in the Feminine

Résumé

This article explores the impact of Digital Media Art as a tool for fostering reflection on gender norms associated with female identity, based on an analysis of the creative process resulting from the author’s project. Through an interdisciplinary artistic practice grounded in Artivism, to highlight female empowerment in historical narratives. For that purpose, it presents and analyses the creative process and performance of the artistic artefact “female in/visibilities 1.0”, following the a/r/cographic method, supported by ethnographic research and qualitative methodological approaches. The experimental practice reflects on the technological convergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in the image-making and interactive creation as artivist mediation. It emphasizes the role of the interface in engaging the participating spectator and illustrates how narrative subversion can be used as a tool to promote the empowered visibility of female identity. It aligns with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the principles of the New European Bauhaus initiative, aiming to contribute to emerging practices of expression committed to the Sustainable Development Goals.
