Educommunication as a way to empower digital citizenship. The case of Peruvian teachers

Resumen

Digital culture is at the centre of the current moment and digital citizenship is developing within it. In this context, certain patterns of behaviour are established that define certain actions of network users. Specifically, in the educational context of the Peruvian jungle area, a descriptive non-experimental design study has been carried out to obtain information on the self-perception of teachers regarding digital culture and attitudes when interacting on social networks. From the data, key aspects are inferred that ratify the need for literacy among network users for them to empower themselves and develop positive attitudes. Behaviours that favour digital coexistence, for which we reflect on international research that deals with protecting the rights of digital citizens and designing strategies to empower them. For all these reasons, different training strategies are proposed based on the development of digital competence. At the same time, further research in the line initiated and the establishment of framework documents that collect the different casuistry is valued. The aim is to provide citizens with resources that enable them to communicate and interact in a responsible, participatory and ethical manner. The aim is to empower users so that they become a key springboard for digital-presential coexistence.
